Comprehensive Composite Materials

Comprehensive Composite Materials will provide a unique central refere nce source for scientists and technologists in the field of composites research. The work will cover key aspects of naturally occurring and synthetic composite materials, including history, reinforcements, matr ix materials, mechanical properties, physical properties, theory, stru ctural design, structural analysis, manufacturing processes, quality a ssurance, test methods, applications, recycling and disposal. Classes of materials covered will include polymer matrix composites, metal mat rix composites, ceramic matrix composites, carbon/carbon composites, a nd cement and concrete composites. The work will also cover smart mate rials as they relate to composites, including process monitoring, embe dded sensors and actuators, and damage detection.
