An early naval account dates back to 1691 when the 78-gun warship 'Coronation' capsized off Rame Head in a fierce storm and 480 men were drowned. But shipwrecks are not just a thing of the past. During gales in late December 1992, the 9705-ton Panamanian 'Demetrios' put ashore near Prawle Point and within hours broke her back.\nTo photograph such dramatic events in often turbulent conditions takes immense courage.
