That year marked the start of the development of gay rights all over the world, which in many countries has now culminated in the introduction of same-sex marriage. Since the 1960s, artists all over the world have regularly taken homosexuality as the subject of their work, in a range of different ways. Queer in Art is the first book to place the development of this art in a broad European context.
