War Bonds: Remembering one small town in America during World War II

World War II finds 15-year-old Betsy Blakesly immersed in the war effort on the home front—the man shortage, scrap drives, bond sales, rationing stamps, radio broadcasts, air raid warnings, blackouts, and running a bicycle delivery service. During the summer of 1943, news comes that a prisoner-of-war camp will be built near the farming town of Plainsview, Colorado where Betsy lives with her family. Suddenly the enemy has landed in her own back yard.
