America's Black Spartacus Remembered : The Confessions of Nat Turner

On August 21, 1831, Nat Turner led a band of slaves that terrorized the countryside outside of Jerusalem, Virginia in a short lived rebellion that left more than 150 blacks (most knew nothing of the rebellion) and nearly 60 whites dead. God directed his attack upon slavery, Turner believed, while his opponents viewed him as a "deluded fanatic."
